No More Marking Webinar with Jeanette Breen

Event concluded

Comparative judgement is a process where judges compare two responses and decide which is better. Research has shown the process to be as reliable as double marking, but much quicker. In this webinar Jeanette Breen will provide an introduction to No More Marking and the use of comparative judgements to reduce teachers’ marking load. This includes a demonstration involving children’s writing. Jeanette will also be discussing the next No More Marking Australian project launching in February 2024 and answering questions about comparative judgement.

Promoting oral language in the early childhood classroom: A short presentation and Q&A session with Laura Glisson (Speech Pathologist) and Rosemary Simpson (former North East LDC Principal and Early Childhood Teacher)

Event concluded

Join us for an insightful presentation and engaging Q&A session with Laura Glisson and Rosemary Simpson on promoting oral language development in early childhood classrooms. Laura is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, the Language and Literacy Specialist at Teach Well, the Bulletin Editor for Learning Difficulties Australia and a member of the Language and Literacy in Young People Research Lab at Curtin University. Rosemary is an early childhood educator and behaviour specialist teacher, and was the Principal of North East Language Development Centre and Outreach Service for 20 years.

Together, they will share their expertise on effective oral language instruction in kindergarten and pre-primary classrooms to meet the needs of diverse groups of students, including those with language and communication difficulties.

Discover how to utilise clinical and educational expertise to support students across all tiers of instruction, and gain valuable insights into screening techniques, referral pathways, and instructional approaches for use in a mainstream context.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and explore practical approaches to enhance oral language skills in young learners.

Bring your questions and join us for an enriching discussion! Please note that the Q&A portion of this event will not be recorded.

“It has given me time to reflect on my own practice. As teachers it's easy to get stuck in the same routines because it's what you know best. This course has me thinking not just about good practice, but great practice.”
